Isom #2 Review. Founder, owner and writer of the Rippaverse also Eric July. Artist Cliff Richards. Colorist Gable Eltaeb.
Isom #2. Avery has more on his plate going further down the rabbit hole and trying to uncover what's taking place with those close to him. If nothing else the first Isom arc is an unorthodox detective story.
Eric July is a Batman fan so it's fitting his first comic series would be a street level detective concept. But he is pulling it off well. The writing skills have developed as well you can tell Eric is a lot more comfortable writing book 2.
In book 2 we are shown why Isom retired from being a superhero. Honestly I feel like the reason given which is Chadran beating Isom and ultimately killing a lady shouldn't fueled vengeance in Avery he shouldn't had retired at all. It's not a good enough reason to walk away overall.
New characters are introduced like Goodyng which is the tech genius in the Rippaverse. A self-sufficient man that works for the people. His introduction was place well into the story as he helps Avery and find answers. We get to experience what Goodyng does on a daily basis.
He became a fan favorite and now has his own book coming very soon where we can read about who he is.
Another amazing character that was introduced is a character named Bloodruth wish is a blood witch evidence would suggest. Her character design and the part she plays in the story fascinated me. She has access to multiple dimensions and I cannot wait for her own series coming soon from the Rippaverse.
overall I highly enjoyed the book and I cannot wait for Isom #3. I do hope the Chadran part of Avery's story has an ultimate ending.

I'd like to highlight how much of a good job Cliff Richards does with those character designs. Characters such as Chadran or Bloodruth have designs that just makes them feel cooler and more charismatic.
